Grain Pattern
Straight to medium-irregular grain with a fine, even texture. The face shows flat-sawn cathedral patterns combined with mineral streaks running along the length of the board.
Color & Appearance
Creamy white sapwood with heartwood that ranges from pale yellowish-brown to olive green, often featuring dark purple, gray, or black mineral streaks (commonly referred to as rainbow poplar). Colors tend to darken and turn to a deeper brown with UV exposure.

Workability
Exceptional workability. Cuts, planes, routs, and sands easily with both hand and machine tools, though sharp blades are needed to prevent fuzzy surfaces due to its relatively soft nature.
Finish Recommendations
Takes paints, stains, and clear finishes very well. Because of its tendency to blotch with darker stains, a pre-stain wood conditioner is often recommended if a uniform dark finish is desired.
